| Intro to Painting with Oils Workshop $65 Date TBA: 9:30-2:30 (Students should bring a snack/lunch) Ages 10 and Up This is a great class for those with previous art experience but not required. This is a very low pressure class with the focus on skill building. Students will be encouraged to try their best regardless of their skill level. We will learn the basic oil painting techniques including: composition, quartering, blending, shading, and detail work. Students will spend the first 90 minutes on technique and then have a half hour lunch break followed by three hours of guided oil painting. Students should bring a sampling of photographs they would like to re-create in oil. The instructor will help choose which one would be most suitable for the time allowed. Photographs should not be too 'busy' and should include something the student is interested in such as a favorite animal, vacation spot, scene, or sport. Using a photograph for a reference is the best way to begin painting with oils as it allows the student to take their time and quarter their work. Pictures from magazines are fine- make sure the picture is no smaller than 4x6. More advanced still-life classes will also be available in the future. Students will leave with a completed or near completed work. Supplies required- One 12x16 canvas, brush cleaning solution, variety of oil brushes (3 flat, 2 round various sizes), palette, basic oil paints including Titanium white, Yellow Ochre, Cad. Red, Cobalt Blue, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber Instructor will provide blending paper and linseed (mixing) oil.. |

| Still Life in Oils Workshop $65 Saturday March 13th 9:30-2:30 (Students should bring a snack & drink) Ages 10 and Up This is a great class for beginners or those wishing to further their technique. This is a very low pressure class with the focus on skill building. Students will be encouraged to try their best regardless of their skill level. Students will spend the first 90 minutes on technique and then have a half hour lunch break followed by three hours of guided oil painting. We will learn the basic techniques required when painting a still life including: composition, aesthetics, blending, shading, and detail work. This workshop's Still Life will consist of a beautiful brightly colored vase with flowers and is intended to encourage students to work on not only their composition skills, but also their overall design. Students will leave with a completed or near completed work. Supplies required- One 12x16 canvas, variety of oil brushes (3 flat, 2 round various sizes), palette, cleaning solution, basic oil paint set including Titanium white, Yellow Ochre, Cad. Red, Cobalt Blue, Cad Yellow, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber (Hues and student grades are fine) Instructor will provide blending paper and linseed oil. |
| Portrait Painting in Oils Workshop $65 Saturday April 10th 9:30-2:30 (Students should bring a snack/lunch) Ages 14 and Up (Younger students who have had previous oils classes with Christy Wilcox may take this class as well. Please ask if you have any questions.) This is a great class for those with previous art experience but not required. We will learn the basic techniques required to paint a portrait including: quartering, blending colors, shading, and detail work. Students will spend the first 90 minutes on technique and then have a short lunch break followed by four hours of guided portraiture. Students should bring a sampling of photographs they would like to recreate in oil. The instructor will help them to choose which one would be most suitable for the time allowed. Students will leave with a completed or near completed work. Supplies required- One 12x16 canvas, variety of oil brushes (3 flat, 2 round various sizes), palette, cleaning solution, basic oil paint set including Titanium white, Yellow Ochre, Cad. | Younger Kids' class! Intro to painting with the Impressionists! $35 Saturday May 8th 9:30-12:30 (Students may bring a snack & drink) Ages 7 & Up This is a great class for the budding artist! Students will lean about painting style and technique by studying the French Impressionists Renoir, Monet & Van Gogh! They will then be instructed in an artist copy of an Impressionist work of their choice! This is a very informative, low pressure class designed to encourage kids to try something new and explore their creative side! We have a lot of fun learning about the correct brushes and painting techniques. We will be using Oil paints on canvas panels and all supplies are included! Parents are invited to stay or feel free to leave and run errands. I will get a cell phone or Emergency contact number from you when you drop off if you decide to leave the premises. |
| Lil Kids' Can Create! $30 Saturday May 8th 12:30-2:30 Ages 4 & Up (Ages 2 & 3 may participate if caregiver stays to help them) This class is Lots of fun packed into a Little time! Kids will get the opportunity to use a variety of art supplies including: Acrylic paint, glitter paint, glue, paper tiles, pipe cleaner, beads, foam board and more! This is an excellent class to help develop fine motor skills and encourage creative thinking! ALL Supplies Included! We will make a Rainbow Fish, a personalized picture frame with child's own masterpiece inside, a door hanger, and a treasure box! Your creative child will love to show off what they have made!
